Cognitive dissonance is a state of tension that occurs whenever a person holds two cognitions (ideas, attitudes, beliefs, opinions) that are psychologically inconsistent. Cognitive dissonance theory may be relevant to understanding why it is so difficult for many people to recognize that many normative childrearing practices are harmful

A journalist asked me to share my insight into this sphere that I have never publicly discussed before.  Now I thought to share my reply with all of my readers:

This is a story about Russian people, Common Russians, not famous politicians or sportsmen, or scientists. This story is about people you don't hear about on news reports.

In Russia, during the 1980s, some innovative people engaged in powerful, grassroots initiatives, playfully and ironically called games, which were intended to improve the quality of life for people working in organizations and living in communities.
